At a glance
- In semester 3 you study at a partner university abroad. This mobility semester is obligatory.
- You must take a domain in semester 3 that you did not study in semester 2. Your semester 2 domains therefore shape where you can go.
- Every admitted student is guaranteed a mobility placement, though not necessarily at their preferred university.
- The final allocation is decided during semester 1. Before that, you can confirm or update your preferences.
- Mobility grants are provided by the partners through the Erasmus+ programme.
How your domains decide your options
- Find your semester 2 domains. Your home university teaches two domains in semester 2 (table 1 below).
- Work out which domains you have not studied. Your semester 3 domain must be one of the other two.
- See which partners teach that domain in semester 3 (table 2 below).
- State your preferences. When you apply you indicate your preferred mobility domain, and optionally a preferred mobility university. You can confirm or update them before the final allocation in semester 1.
For example, Radboud Universiteit teaches Clinical and Technology in semester 2, so a Radboud student's semester 3 domain must be Brain Systems or Computation.

A domain being taught at a university does not guarantee you a place there. The Joint Admission and Selection Committee allocates placements based on student preferences, academic performance and available capacity across the consortium.
Enrolling at your host university
You enrol first at your home university, where you spend semesters 1 and 2. In the third semester you also need to enrol at your partner university, so fees and mobility costs can differ depending on your pathway. See fees and funding and the university guides for each partner.
Preparing for your mobility semester
- Use the before you arrive steps for visa, housing and insurance in your host country.
- Local career services can also support your relocation to another country during your mobility semester.
- For electives, timelines and local rules at your host university, contact your Local Academic Mentor in advance.
Who can help?
Your home university's Local Academic Mentor answers questions about your individual pathway. The Joint Admission and Selection Committee manages mobility placements.
